Spelling

The Houghton Mifflin Spelling Series is used in Grades 2-8.  It is designed to help each pupil learn to spell words in a basic word list; apply spelling principles to other words; and apply spelling skills to independent writing.  Each student has available their own consumable text.

Study Skills

The Zaner-Bloser YOU CAN TAKE CHARGE Study Skills Curriculum will  be used in Grades 7-8.  The purpose of this series is to teach students how to learn.  The program consists of lessons on managing time, organization, comprehension boosters, test-taking skills and other learning techniques.  The skills learned will be continually reinforced throughout the school year.

Teachers in Grades 4, 5 and 6 will continue to teach and reinforce learning skills adapted from the Sensa Study Skills Series and from lessons presented in the Houghton Mifflin English text.
